A surface that does not enclose, but filters space. Rift appears as a tall, vertical plane — light in its expression, yet clearly anchored. From a distance, it reads as a subtle rhythm of lines; up close, its material depth and detailing become apparent. It separates without isolating, allowing light and movement to pass through while establishing a clear spatial boundary.
The structure is based on a system of profiled wooden lamellas, providing both visual lightness and structural rigidity. Their cross-section is shaped to increase resistance to buckling, allowing the elements to remain slender while maintaining stability. The system operates in a compressed configuration, enabling installation without ceiling fixation, while ensuring a precise and firm stance.
Material use is restrained. The continuous grain of the veneer reinforces the verticality and rhythm of the piece. This linear system is interrupted by a single, articulated element: a hand-crafted, riveted brass tray, introducing weight, tactility, and a point of use within an otherwise purely structural field.
Rift separates while remaining open — providing spatial division without closing the environment.
