Carbon is an experimental piece focused on material exploration, where the relationship between surface and mass becomes primary. The solid wood top is brushed and charred, revealing the natural grain structure and creating a deep, carbonised texture. This dark, tactile surface is not a coating, but the result of a controlled transformation of the material itself.
In contrast, the sanded and impregnated concrete legs provide mineral weight and structural stability. The meeting of wood and concrete is not treated as opposition, but as balance — two distinct material conditions reinforcing one another.
Variability is central to the concept. Each piece is unique: differences in grain, tone, and surface character arise from the natural behaviour of the material. Dimensions remain approximate, with proportions subtly adjusting to the specific qualities of each element.
Carbon is not a fixed form, but the result of a process. It reveals the inherent nature of its materials — expressed differently in every piece.
